Diversity and Inclusion

We are Singapore's first and only fully open smartphone filmmaking competition. Any age, any smartphone, any experience level, we want to see your films! In honour of being open to all, our theme this year is Diversity and Inclusion, and what this means to you.

Smartphones have democratised the art of filmmaking, and that's why the High Commission of Canada in Singapore, the National Youth Achievement Award Council and leading Smartphone Filmmaker Tejas Ewing have joined hands to launch this competition.

We want to inspire the next generation of filmmakers to embrace the accessibility of smartphones and tell compelling stories that bring us all closer together. Ten shortlisted films will be screened live at the Alliance Française, our venue partner, on March 31st (an invite-only exclusive benefit for filmmakers who submit)!

Great Prizes

Ten shortlisted films will be screened at the Alliance Française on March 31st (invite only)

Shortlisted teams will able to invite their selected guests to the special screening

The top three films will win great prizes to take home - to be announced and given away at the screening

Entry to this competition is completely free and open to anyone based in Singapore

The Theme

You must address the theme in your short film. We want to know what the concepts of Diversity and Inclusion mean to you and those you care about.

You can make a music video, a documentary, a genre film or even an experimental abstract film, as long as it deals with the theme in an exciting way!

Look at the photos you see on this page - what ideas and imagery do these photos inspire? What thoughts do they bring up? How can you interpret these concepts for a wider audience, in a short film?

The Rules

Entry is completely free and open to anyone in Singapore.

Your film must be shot entirely on a smartphone.

Your film must directly address the theme.

Your film must be between one and ten minutes.

Your film will be judged on artistic quality, technical merit, creative approach and adherence to the theme.

Films must be submitted by 2300 hours (Singapore Standard Time) on Monday, 22 March 2021 to hello@filmtogether.org

Ten films will be shortlisted and screened live on March 31st (invite only) at the Alliance Française.

You must be able to attend the screening to be eligible for one of the three top prizes.

These prizes will only be announced at the screening, and only filmmakers who attend will be eligible for these prizes.
